David Baxter

Toronto musician David Baxter has been on the Canadian musican scene for a long time.  He is a journeyman guitarist, an award winning songwriter and an award winning producer.  David Baxter has been writing, performing and producing music all his life.  He has been a professional since 1975 when he received his first break as a member of legendary Toronto band David Wilcox and the Teddy Bears. In the late 70’s he was a member of seminal Toronto band The Sharks, 2 members of which went on to found Blue Rodeo.

As a producer, David Baxter has been involved with with albums for Canadian songwriter Bob Snider.   His other productions include records with Loi Yates, Justin Rutledge, Northern Pikes, Treasa Levasseur, The Undesirables, Catherine MacLellan, Penny Lang, Michael Laderoute.

David Baxter tours as guitarist with Lori Yates,  Justin Rutledge and Michael Levasseur.  His guitar can be heard weekly on the soundtrack to CTV series, Degrassi: the Next Generation, and on many records as a sideman.

Day & Age is David Baxter’s debut album as a singer. In a career of working with great voices, he had always left that job to the experts. “I was politely encouraged to stick to the guitar,” says Baxter, “but I always wrote songs, as a collaborator.”

Day & Age is an original collection of 12 songs all penned by David Baxter.  Playing with David on Day & Age are Brian Kobayakawa, Treasa Levasseur, Justin Rutledge.  You can also hear the voices of Catherine Macleelland and Jenn Grant, Lori Yates and Soozi Schlanger singing back up.  The album was recorded at the knob and tube recording studios in Toronto, ON by David Baxter.  It was mixed a the Meat Locker in NYC by Harvey Goldberg.  Day & Age is dedicated to David’s parents (Ruth and Edward Baxter).
